Student Testimonials
The WSPP faculty prepared us extremely well for all phases of the internship application process, from essays to interviews. I was invited for many interviews and was matched to my top choice, an APA-accredited site. On internship, I have found that my training at WSPP has prepared me well to meet the expectations of my internship supervisors. Internship application can be stressful, but I felt supported and encouraged by WSPP faculty and administration throughout the whole process.

I received one of the two scholarships available to first-year students. It’s called the John H. Jackson Minority Scholarship, and as the name suggests, it goes to a deserving minority student.
I personally identify as an immigrant—I was born in Romania and I just recently got my American citizenship. So I was very honored to receive the scholarship and to have my achievements recognized.
The scholarship covers up to 50% of tuition and goes up to five years. It really reflects the school’s mission and its focus on diversity and having an inclusive student body. I’m very thankful for the scholarship. It really helps me focus on my duties as a student and as a practicum student. And it lets me not focus so much on how I’m going to pay for my education.

One of the things that I think our school does really well is providing students with opportunities for clinical training.
I myself have worked in such settings as a neuropsychological clinic, a rehab center for individuals getting over drug and alcohol addiction, and in an integrated behavioral health setting.
I would say that, in addition to this, it’s really wonderful because a lot of the opportunities we're given provide us with things that are unexpected. So being able to build ourselves, get outside of our comfort zones, and really learn is baked into the program really well.

There are many reasons that I chose to attend WSPP.
One of the main things that attracted me here was the John Jackson Minority Scholarship, which grants one student every year a scholarship that pays for half of your tuition. It was an amazing opportunity, and I'm really fortunate to have it because it has allowed me to pursue a higher education.Being a student from an ethnic, racial background, diversity is very important to me.
And here at WSPP, we try to foster cultural awareness through committees like the Multicultural Affairs Committee, and we try to teach our students and the community at large about cultural awareness. So overall, my experience here has been very rewarding, and I encourage any prospective students to come in and check us out.

My time at the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology (WSPP) has been nothing short of transformative. As I reflect on my doctoral training in clinical psychology, I am grateful for the unique and enriching experience that WSPP has afforded me over the past four and a half years.
Despite its smaller size, WSPP's academic rigor and standards are truly exceptional, easily rivaling the best Psy.D. programs nationwide. The faculty maintain high expectations for students, fostering a challenging yet supportive learning environment. What truly sets WSPP apart is the personalized attention afforded by the small class sizes. Professors are not only dedicated to imparting knowledge but also to ensuring that each student thoroughly grasps the material and can apply it effectively to diverse clinical scenarios.
Additionally, the mentorship at WSPP is outstanding. Core faculty members are not just educators; they are mentors who offer invaluable guidance, particularly in psychotherapy, assessment cases, and the daunting dissertation process. Each faculty member brings a unique area of expertise, providing students with a rich body of knowledge to draw from. Beyond academics, the faculty's compassion and willingness to offer support make WSPP feel like a second home. A quick chat or a reassuring word from a professor or administrative assistant often makes a world of difference during stressful times.
One of WSPP's most significant advantages is its commitment to individual supervision. The WSPP clinic's policy of providing one hour of supervision for every hour of individual therapy ensures that students receive immediate, constructive feedback on their sessions. This approach has been pivotal in accelerating my growth as a psychotherapist and developing my expertise in evidence-based psychological assessment. If your interests lie in psychological assessment or neuropsychology, WSPP's robust supervision model and assessment prowess should make it a top contender for your doctoral training.
Furthermore, WSPP's location in the heart of Milwaukee opens doors to a wide array of practicum sites, offering diverse and invaluable clinical training experiences. One of my own practica at the Medical College of Wisconsin in pain psychology was a game-changer. It not only cemented my passion for health psychology and working with patients experiencing chronic illness, but it also connected me with mentors who have been instrumental in my professional development and seeking future opportunities.
Overall, choosing WSPP for my doctoral training was one of the best decisions I've made. The WSPP faculty has allowed me to explore my clinical interests freely, while providing a supportive environment where I could flourish without feeling constrained. While every institution has its imperfections, WSPP consistently strives to prioritize its students, creating a space where every voice is heard, respected, and nurtured. My time at WSPP has not only equipped me with the skills and knowledge to excel in my field but has also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of personalized, compassionate education.
