Scholarships
John H. Jackson Scholarship for Expanding Mental Health Access
This scholarship provides up to a 50% tuition reduction per academic year for students committed to addressing workforce shortages in clinical psychology.
It is designed to support individuals who demonstrate:
• Academic excellence (minimum 3.0 GPA)
• Financial need
• A strong commitment to practicing psychology in underserved or high-need communities (e.g., rural healthcare, veterans' mental health, disability services, low-income populations, immigrant or refugee groups, etc.).
This scholarship is open to incoming students only and is renewable for up to five (5) years, provided recipients maintain active enrollment, academic standing, and demonstrated commitment to workforce development.
Application:
Interested students should submit a written statement detailing their career goals and how they plan to address mental health access gaps as well as a discussion of their unique abilities, skills, or experiences that will help them achieve their future goals of serving underserved populations.
WSPP Academic Scholarship
[First Year Students Only]:
This scholarship recognizes prior academic achievement of first time applicants to WSPP. The scholarship is available only to first year students and is a one-year award. Criteria include need and academic achievement. This scholarship is available only to WSPP Regular-Status students. Applicants should complete their application for this scholarship at the time of their application to WSPP.
Anthony M. Kuchan Scholarship
[Students Doing Dissertations Only]:
An academic scholarship, The Anthony M. Kuchan Scholarship, is to be awarded to a student who is conducting dissertation research in the area of ethics and professional practice. Students may apply for this scholarship after they have received approval of their dissertation proposal.
Raymond J. McCall Scholarship
[Students Who Have Completed 18 credits Only]:
An academic scholarship, The Raymond J. McCall Academic Excellence Award, is to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence in the field of psychology. It is understood that need is also a basis for the determination of each year’s recipient. Applicants must have completed at least 18 credits at WSPP to be eligible.
Kathleen M. Rusch Endowed Scholarship for First-Generation Students
[First Year Students Only]:
The Dr. Kathleen M. Rusch Endowed Scholarship for First-Generation Students aims to break down barriers and open doors of opportunity for those who are the first in their families to pursue a college degree and go on to graduate study in clinical psychology. This is a one-year non-renewable scholarship awarded to first-year students. This scholarship is available for incoming students and is awarded by the administration based on the strength of the student’s written application materials and supplemental scholarship statement. Interested students should submit a written statement describing how being a first-generation college student has shaped their educational goals, personal growth, and future aspirations.
Procedure:
- Unless stated by the specific scholarship (Jackson, Rusch), interested students must attach a written statement, not to exceed two (2) pages, typed and double-spaced, indicating their personal need and motivation. Your statement should also address your academic performance.
- For the Kathleen M. Rusch, Anthony M. Kuchan, and Raymond J. McCall scholarships: Attach three (3) letters of recommendation (advisor and 2 additional faculty members) in addition to the statement described above in Procedure #1.
- Forward completed application and attachments to admissions@wspp.edu.
