UW- Milwaukee Library Access and Use

The purpose of these pages is to help WSPP students and Faculty to perform research in an easy manner. Please contact the Librarian with any additions you want to add to the list.

Overview of UW Milwaukee Library use:

Use the MAC computers in the Cafe area by main entrance, others require a secured log-in

Photo ID is required after 7:00 pm to enter

UW Milwaukee’s Online databases can only be accessed on-site

UW Milwaukee’s Online Catalog Help is available at the ASK the Librarian desk in the main study area on the first floor of the West Wing.

Electronic journals are only available on-site.

Computers/Database searches

Use the Macintosh computers located in the central café area of the Leaning Commons.

Internet access is available via the Safari browser or Firefox browser.

The UWM Libraries homepage is the main access point for finding databases, must be used on-site to get list.

Review the UW Milwaukee’s Psychology guide which draws attention to Psychology resources like PsycINFO, PILOTS and Mental Measurements.

Periodicals

Students will use the FindIt application to locate full-text and call numbers for online and print journals.

Current periodicals are located on the lower level, and organized by LC call number.

Older volumes of bound periodicals will be in the regular books stacks (3rd floor for the B call numbers and 2nd floor for the R call numbers.)

Journals do not circulate, but students may need to check reshelving areas for volumes that have been used recently

Printing and Copying

Copy cards are available for $1.00 initial purchase near the Welcome Desk and in the north end of the Learning Commons.

Printing is $.06 per page and our default print setting is double-sided

Photocopies are $.15 per page

Scanning is free

Portable USB hard-drives can be used to save articles from databases and scanned documents.

Friends of the Library Card

Members of the community are invited to purchase a Friends card for $35.00. This is recommended for anyone who wants to check-out books. More information: Friends card.
