Clinical Practicum
(1 credit hour, 2 credit hours total)
New students attend and participate in Training Center staff meetings and case conferences, are oriented to professional, ethical and clinical issues of practice, and are taught basic interviewing skills.They meet with the instructor for lecture and discussion of relevant clinical practice issues.

Cognitive Assessment
(3 credit hours)
Students are introduced to the major cognitive assessment instruments commonly used in clinical practice, including the WAIS-III, WISC-IV, WPPSI-III, WJ-III, Stanford-Binet, and WIAT-II. Major issues in assessment such as reliability, validity, and cultural factors are given strong emphasis.

Personality Assessment
(3 credit hours)
Students are instructed in major theories of personality assessment and approaches of instruments, such as broad vs. narrow band approaches. Major assessment instruments covered include: MMPI-2/MMPI-A, Rorschach, Beck Depression Inventory, Thematic Apperception Test, Roberts Apperception Test for Children and projective drawings.

Psychopathology
(3 credit hours)
An examination of systems used to classify mental disorders and research issues relevant to psychopathology. Students are introduced to the DSM system which is used as an outline for an overview of both child and adult mental disorders.

History and Systems of Psychology
(3 credits)
Study of the historical development of psychology with emphasis on major theoretical schools and systems of thought. Relevance to current theoretical perspectives and practice is stressed.

Psychological Methods in Psychotherapy
(3 credit hours)
A review of the major psychological theories of psychotherapy is conducted. A description of each theory is articulated along with a discussion of related process and empirically-supported outcome research.

Research and Experimental Methods in Psychology
(3 credit hours)
Research principles, including the scientific method, the bases for reporting research and critical analysis of research are covered. Students are required to prepare a research proposal. Basic issues in experimental psychology will be discussed.

Introduction to Clinical Practice
(3 credit hours)
This course will introduce students to the field of clinical psychology by examining relevant factors in clinical practice, such as personal qualities of effective psychotherapists, fee setting, professional writing, ethical issues, and listening skills.

Diversity in Clinical Practice
(3 credit hours)
Students will be taught to understand and value contributions from diverse groups and to recognize cultural influences on their own beliefs, values, and behavior. Socio-economic, cultural, and political marginalization of disadvantaged groups will also be discussed.

(3 credit hours)
Focus on putting knowledge and skills obtained in previous assessment courses into practice. Hands-on clinical experience along with close supervision provided. Establish skills in case presentation.

Psychotherapy Practicum
(3 credit hours)
Focus on putting knowledge and skills obtained in previous therapy courses into practice. Hands-on clinical experience along with close supervision provided. Establish skills in case presentation.

* Competency based course. Students must demonstrate competency before the course is considered completed.
